Bio- K Plus- Do You Think About Probiotics?

I wanted to take the time and share with you something that my brother shared with me regarding a health product that he is loving-Bio-K Plus: a probiotic supplement.

Bio-K Plus

I was talking to my brother the other day and he was sharing with me one of his many ‘discoveries’, which improve his life. He is all about finding what works, researching beyond a normal state of research to know what is good and bad for his body. This benefits me because basically he spends the time researching while I reap from the benefits of him telling me what to do and what not to do.

One of the things that he found made a big difference in his life is probiotics; something I have heard about, but not researched in any amount of depth myself.

He has incorporated pro-biotics into his every day diet through supplements and powders and has seen a significant difference in his digestion and no longer gets the up-set stomachaches that he regularly had.

He explained to me that Probiotics are a good type of bacteria found mostly in the gastrointestinal tract and is needed for all sorts of bodily functions, which include intestinal health, proper digestion, supporting immune system functions and so forth.

In a perfect world we would find probiotics in our food and that would be sufficient, but because we live in a time where a poor diet is so prominent and it is easy to get a lack of exercise mixed with a world of pollution we need to look for others ways to obtain proper health and make an extra effort to get our body what it needs.

Lifestyle, stresses, a poor diet, pollution and lack of exercise can all reduce the quantity of good bacteria in our intestine which is needed for our bodies immune responses. In a perfect world, we would get the beneficial bacteria from fresh fruits, vegetables, and milk products but a lot of these good foods are striped off the good bacteria during modern food preparation processes.

Antibiotics, which eliminate both good and bad bacteria from the body can leave us vulnerable to bacterial infections and susceptible to gastro-intestinal afflictions which is why it is so important to have probiotics. He explained that the goal is to keep your body in as much of a state of equilibrium as possible and probiotics can help you do just that.

He uses Bio-K plus, which he attests is an excellent, easy and tasty way to get the probiotics we need into our daily diet! They have such a variety of flavorsand are naturally dairy and gluten free, and its great for children as well.

I am glad to learn about probiotics because anything that will help my sensitive stomach is worth a try.  I thought it would be good to share with you all and wondered if anyone out there has used this product or any other type of probiotics, and what they thought about it? We would be interested in hearing and I am sure it would be beneficial for others to hear your thoughts and opinions!

Hope to hear from you in our comment space and hope you all have a wonderful day!

This is what the bottles look like! :)

I raised my kids on Bio-K+ and have used it myself for over a decade. My girls are healthy, strong and beautiful and have only very arely even gotten sick even when colds and stomach flus were rampant in school. I feel great using Bio-K+, usually throw a whole bottle into my breakfast protein smoothie but people I know take as little as 1/4 bottle and feel great and it only costs them the price of a bad cup of coffee. If I go a few days without it i notice my digection and elimination is not as smooth and predictable.

I’ve recently been research probiotics too and a friend told me about kefir, a beverage you can make yourself from water kefir grains which has a large spectrum of probiotics and has great health benefits. There are also milk kefir grains, but I’m on a non-dairy diet, so water kefir grains is the way to go. Once you get the initial grains, you can continue growing them so you have a supply for a lifetime, and you can give some away.

Here’s a link I found that explains it pretty thoroughly and where you can buy it if you don’t know anyone to give you some..

I’ll be getting my water kefir grains from my friend who tries to give away as much as she can because the grains keep growing and she has more than enough for her family.

Here’s another link that shows how to make coconut kefir. I’d like to try this too.

Making kefir yourself sounds like a much more economical way to get probiotics than buying something. I think I’ve also read that there are more probiotics in kefir than most products you can buy.

    Hope this is helpful!

Thanks Jun! Your input is great and your information on Kerif grains is very interesting and valuable. It is great for people to know their options out there. I know that some people want the health benefits of healthy choices but do not necessarily want or cannot put in the amount of effort needed to go completely the most economical route, therefore pick and choose where they spend their energies or money. On the other hand some people want to be as natural as possible and use supplement as little as possible. Thanks again Jun for sharing!!
